Steve is a valuable resource for safety and compliance at MRD. He has been in the mining industry since 1981 when he began his career working in an underground coal mine. Steve’s experience spans both surface and underground mining. He is a former MSHA (Mining, Safety, and Health Administration) inspector and accident investigator and a former member of the Underground Mine Rescue Team. He is a Red Cross-certified and National Safety Council first aid and CPR instructor, certified MSHA trainer, and holds various state mine examiner certifications. Steve says, “My goal is simple and it is to do everything that I can in ensuring that everyone goes home each day.” In his free time Steve enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids and camping.
